Bangkok + Ikea + Sim Lim = empty pocket!
let me begin by saying that i’ve never had so much fun and that it’s about time i enjoyed some of the money im earning for myself! (though im still in shock with my latest purchase…)
aimee and i went to bangkok last week for a training. as you know, bangkok is synonymous to shopping, so it’s really no big surprise that on our first day, i already spent almost all the pocket money i brought! (that’s $300 down the drain on the first day alone!) but i never felt more satisfied and i never had so much fun since the CAAS project started! i missed shopping and i gave in to all my impulse buying!
we went to chatuchak, swan loom, patpong, mbk and we never left empty-handed. i bought lots of bags, shirts, office attire and so much more! weee…
yesterday was IKEA day… since philip is going home to the Philippines, and since there is an IKEA sale, i thought that I might as well buy some goodies to bring back home (planning to go home in October for a short visit). Describing our shopping spree in one word will be: panic-buying. we just took everything we wanted, may it be on sale or not! we spent over $650 (me, being the top spender! ngek). by the time we got to the cashier, we were laughing at ourselves! we looked like we were starting a sari-sari store or something! we had two big carts of merchandises! (lots and lots of quilts and quilt covers!)
today, we went to lucky plaza to remit some money. i only remitted a small amount since the exchange rate is really bad.
good for the philippines but really bad for OFWs like us. anyhoo, i was planning to get a cellphone (sony ericsson 810i) but changed my mind. i opted instead to get a camera. so we headed to sim lim to scout for a very cheap price for my canon ixus 800is. we found the cheapest rate yet! only $550! it was selling for at least $620 in other stores!
but… i didnt buy the canon… i almost did. but i changed my mind (again). why? well uncle asked me if i was getting the canon for someone else, i said no and that i was getting it for myself. then he suddenly had that look in his eye, as if he wanted to tell me something. so naturally, i asked.
as it turned out, he "strongly recommends" the nikon coolpix camera. i was having second thoughts since i know canon is the best brand to get for a camera, but after around 30 minutes of deciding, 10 sample shots, 1 ipod for philip, 1 memory card for philip, (wehehehe) i finally decided im going to get the nikon. it was really cool! i loved the picture. the only doubt i was having was whether it’s good enough a camera as canon. but if im going to base on the pictures/playbacks, i’d say it’s as good as canon, if not, better.
well yun lang… i hope i can sleep with the loads of money i spent in just one week’s time. that’s it. no more shopping for two months! hehehe.
